Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma continues to increase in the Western population. While outcomes of patients with early esophageal adenocarcinoma has improved significantly, largely due to endoscopic eradication therapies and minimally invasive surgery, the 5-year survival rates for advanced cases remains dismal. Barrett’s esophagus is the only precursor lesion for esophageal adenocarcinoma, and the last decade has seen significant improvements and innovations in this field.
